NEWS RELEASE FOR ICOMES 2000 & ICME 2000

 

TO ALL ICOMES MEMBER SOCIETIES:

Thanks to the support from all member societies, the preparation of ICOMES 2000 and ICME 2000 is progressing smoothly. By the end of May 2000, CMES has received 1,936 papers from 29 countries and regions.

Following member societies/institutions have confirmed their participation in ICOMES 2000:

CMES also invites some sister societies participate in ICME 2000 and meet with ICOMES member societies at some appropriate occasions. By the end of May 2000, the German Welding Society has confirmed their participation, and CMES is looking forward to receiving more confirmation in the coming months.

All ICOMES member societies are kindly expected to confirm their participation in ICOMES 2000 no later than July 15, and provide the official list of the delegates of each member societies no later than August 15. The above 7 member societies are also requested to reconfirm their participation, so as to avoid any possible misunderstandings.

ENTREPRENEURS FORUM & ICME PLENARY SESSION

For the benefit of further fruitful cooperation between the learned societies and the industrial communities, CMES shall organize an entrepreneur’s forum during ICOMES 2000 as well as a plenary session during ICME 2000. VENUE

In order to provide the best conference facilities in Shanghai, CMES has decided to hold all events of ICOMES and ICME at Shanghai International Convention Center.

Shanghai International Convention Center is conveniently situated in the heart of Pudong Development Zone, Shanghai’s future-place to be. Along the riverside boulevard and overlooking the legendary Bund while only 25 and 30 minutes’ drive to Hongqian International Airport and Pudong International Airport respectively, Shanghai International Convention Center enjoys an ideal geographic location surrounded by a rich transportation network of three-dimension.

As the conference venue hosted the Fortune Global Forum 1999, not only does Shanghai International Convention Center offers a choice of 22 meeting rooms with seating capacity ranging from 50 up to 1000, exhibition facilities of the center also ranks high within Shanghai. What’s more, the pillarless Grand Ball Room of the center, one of the highest in China, is able to hold 4000 people, either for banquet of conference.
